Year of the Ox
Papercutting 剪紙 is an age-old folk craft. They are used to decorate doors, walls and windows during Chinese New Year and times of celebrations.
The intricate patterns often depict lucky symbology and auspicious phrases.
For the year of the Ox, I’ve designed a pair of papercuttings based on buffalos, cows and calves living in Hong Kong, specifically those seen lounging on the streets of South Lantau.
